In March, I had the pleasure of attending MathsConf31, an annual conference organized by La Salle Complete Maths. One of the sessions that stood out to me was Jason Gottfried’s presentation on using coloured counters to teach prime numbers, which was both inspiring and innovative. As a tutor, I found it extremely useful in engaging my students and making math fun. I was even invited to talk about my experience on Dave Taylor’s Teaching Together podcast.
Children’s Mental Health Week 7-12th February 2022
Judy be joining Charlotte Watson of Wonderlearn English to record an interview which will be released the following week as part of Children’s Mental Health Week. This is a topic very close to her heart, so when Charlotte approached her to participate in this event, she jumped at the chance to spread the word!
She will be discussing anxiety and how it particularly affects children in Maths and their ability to cope with anything ‘Mathsy’. She will be giving plenty of tips and ideas to help bring down ‘Maths Anxiety’. Although Judy specialises in teaching Maths to Neurodiverse children, many of the techniques are also applicable for children learning other subjects too.
Do look out for the interview and the other five as they are released during the week 7-12th February. They will be available in the 11+, ISEB, SATs, GCSE & A-Level Resource Group run by Agness O’Brien.
If you are interested in attending one of the child’s group lessons, Parents’ Workshops or attend the workshop as a Tutor please follow the link to our Eventbrite page where you can book directly onto the available events for the next few months.
