If you are new to teaching or bespoke tuition and want to find out more about Maths Anxiety, teaching children who are Neurodiverse, or Dyscalculic we have workshops suitable for your CPD. These are listed as Parents’ Workshops but are also suitable for Teachers or Tutors who are wanting to know more and expand their knowledge and skills to enable them to be able to teach children these early Maths skills in a much more hands-on practical way.
As well as the one-off child group lessons we will be also running sessions for Parents on the same topic. These slightly larger online groups will be run as workshops for Parents to find out more about how to help their own children using the same practical activities.
Topics that will be addressed in these one-off Parents’ Workshops will be:
Using Cuisenaire Rods to help with number bonds
Using Cuisenaire Rods to help with learning times table facts
Using Cuisenaire Rods to help with using money
These lessons will be 1 hour and are available to book directly on Eventbrite. Just sign up and pay and then you will be sent the Zoom link for the event. You will also then receive an eBook with the session notes and suggested resources.
Each topic will be offered as both an online group lesson for children in groups of up to 6 and also in a Parent workshop format for up to 20 Parents. These sessions will run monthly. Alternating months it will be run as a hands-on session for children and the following month as a Parents’ Workshop.
As well as the parallel Child and Parent sessions there will also be several Parent only workshops. These are also suitable in the CPD context.
How to spot Dyscalculia and ways to help your child
Does your child find telling the time tricky?
Just let us know in advance that you are attending as a Teacher/Tutor rather than as a parent and we will be able to put a slightly different slant on the session for you.
If there is demand there will also be a Tutor specific CPD workshop session on how to teach Maths online effectively. This session has previously been run as part of the Dyscalculia Association L5 Dyscalculia training. If you are interested in this workshop please contact us at email@example.com
